STRINGS ATTACHED is a trust set up to provide musical education and promote performance to people of all ages in the area.

Trustees
Chair PENNY HINCHCLIFFE – A qualified youth worker, with extensive experience in both the voluntary and public sectors, with a strong commitment to supporting young people and helping them to develop their talents.

Secretary DOREEN GWILLIAM – a graduate in English and History, Doreen has many years of experience of project management in the statutory and voluntary sectors, including staff supervision, report writing and promotion.  A music lover with wide tastes, from classical music to rock bands, she has for the past six years worked on projects for young people managing a large Connexions contract in the voluntary sector.

Treasurer NICKY SHAW – Professionally qualified in Business Administration, specialising in book keeping and finance, Nicky has held a number of posts and has broad experience of project and financial monitoring. She is currently Finance and Administration Officer for the Young Volunteers Agency, Barnsley.

Principle Tutor
& Music Consultant

DAVID PADGETT - David is an experienced musician and guitarist. A music graduate with teaching and assessor qualifications, he has for 30 years been a soloist, performing a classical repertoire in Spain, Cuba, Germany and the Greek Islands, as well as appearing at many local events. David teaches classical guitar and flamenco, but also pop-rock, blues and jazz at various levels.  David is not only the principal tutor for the Trust, but ensures the highest quality of tuition is offered to learners, acts as a mentor to volunteers and other tutors, and develops and looks for new resources.

WHAT WE OFFER……

FREE Taster Sessions – A limited number of places are available on MONDAY AFTERNOONS and EVENINGS.

One-to-One Guitar Lessons - Places available MONDAY to SATURDAY mornings, afternoons and evenings. Current charges £10.00 per half hour session. Any playing style catered for, including Classical, Flamenco, Rock, Country, Pop and Folk.

Guitar Clubs – Guitar “Clubs” for both Classical and Rock Guitar, where members focus on working together, forming ensembles, and playing together in a band.

Accreditation – Clients can work towards a recognised music qualification (extra costs involved). The accreditations we use are: Rock School and London College of Music for Classical Guitar.

Celebration Events and Local Performances – We provide opportunities for clients to display their skills at local events, by organising concerts and performances.
